Lap 56 — Marcos Ambrose pits and likes his car. Jimmie Johnson is on pit road and fighting a tight car.

Lap 55—Greg Biffle is out front. Kyle Busch pits, takes tires and fuel. Carl Edwards gets a chassis adjustment.

Lap 54—Jamie McMurray takes four tires and fuel, calls the car loose.

Lap 53—Kasey Kahne is on pit road and says the car is terrible. Regan Smith and Jamie McMurray turn down pit road.

Lap 52 — Greg Biffle stays out and takes the lead.

Lap 51—Jeff Gordon pits with Juan Montoya. Montoya misses his marks. Gordon takes tires, fuels and a significant chassis adjustment. Tony Stewart pits as Gordon exits.

Lap 27—Kurt Busch holds off Greg Biffle for second.

Lap 26 — Tony Stewart has plenty of speed out front, now 2.2 seconds ahead of Kurt Busch, in second.

Lap 25—Juan Montoya gives up third to Greg Biffle in Turn 3.

Lap 24—Tony Stewart’s lead increases to 1.7 seconds.

Lap 23—Martin Truex Jr. completes the top 10. Jeff Gordon drops to sixth.

Lap 22—Tony Stewart increases his lead ahead of the field. Kurt Busch, in second, is 1.2-seconds off the pace.

Lap 16 — David Gilliland appears to have tapped the left-rear of Andy Lally’s race car. Robby Gordon gets the free pass and remains the only car a lap down. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jamie McMurray turn down pit road.

3:18 p.m.—GREEN FLAG: Matt Kenseth brings the field up to speed and the Kobalt Tools 400 is under way at Las Vegas. Denny Hamlin starts from the rear due to an engine change.

3:12 p.m.—The cars are rolling off pit road and will take three warm-up laps.

3:08 p.m.—Gray Abercrombie, Lowe’s sports marketing manager, gives the command: “Gentlemen, start your engines!”

3:01 p.m. — Kristen Hertzenberg, star of Phantom-Las Vegas Spectacular, sings the national anthem.

3 p.m.—LVMS Chaplain Joe Freiburger gives the Invocation.

2:30 p.m.—FOX’s pre-race coverage of the Kobalt Tools 400 is under way.

1 p.m. ET—It’s a sunny and windy day at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with temperatures in the 60s. Matt Kenseth is on the pole for the Kobalt Tools 400. Green is scheduled to drop at 3:16 p.m. ET.
