Uncle Sam Wants You! Who will be new Steven Tyler? Too ''English'' Paul
Rodgers or Lenny Kravitz or Billy Idol? Maybe a woman... For Example
Lady Gaga? Maybe you can say: ''Can you imagine the manager of the
Rolling Stones calling for the replacement of Mick Jagger? It's just
absurd... Steven is Aerosmith.'' * Hot Pages * Chicky-Leaks * From Lady to the Senate * Lady Meatt * PETA VS. LadyGaGa * Lady CaCa Video Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, considered hiring former Queen singer Paul Rodgers to replace Steven Tyler - but decided the rocker is too ''English'' to front an American band. The musicians are looking to replace Tyler while he takes a hiatus to recover from a recent stint in rehab - insisting they want to continue with plans for a new tour and album without the frontman. Numerous stars have since been linked to the role including Lenny Kravitz and Billy Idol... Rodgers was also rumoured to be in the running to take the coveted slot, but Perry reveals that although he is a talented singer, he wouldn't fit in with Aerosmith. Perry tells ''I mean, obviously that would be a thought, because he is one of my favourite singers of all time, and I got a chance to meet him at Classic Rock Awards a couple of months ago. But I think that him being English, from that earlier generation, I don't think that it would work. I mean, it's more than just somebody who can sing. We're young kids to him. I just don't think it's the right chemistry. Technically, I know he's got the chops - I mean, I know he can sing anything he wants - but I think that it's a little bit more than just if he can sing the songs.'' But the guitarist admits they do have broad parameters for the search - and would even consider a female replacement for Tyler. He adds, ''Oh, definitely, we would consider a woman. No one in the band's brought that up, but sometimes you've gotta think out of the box. Oddly enough, a lot of the bands I was in before I had Aerosmith, I had female singers in the band and it was really good - a lot of great songs. So that's definitely a possibility.'' A lawyer for Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has threatened to sue the manager of the band to prevent him from hiring a replacement singer, according to Billboard.com Tuesday. The report said that attorney Skip Miller requested that Aerosmith manager Howard Kaufman "immediately cease and desist from engaging in acts and conduct to the harm and detriment of your own client, Aerosmith, and our client who is one of its members." Aerosmith played its last show in August when Tyler, 61, fell from the stage. The lawyer's letter was prompted by the comments of Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry that the band was looking for a new frontman, and by Kaufman who allegedly said that "the band would be better off without Steven." Miller wrote in the letter: ''Can you imagine the manager of the Rolling Stones calling for the replacement of Mick Jagger? It's just absurd ...
