Dünyaca ünlü Indianapolis Pisti, belki de MotoGP'den çıkartılmalı. Sıcak ve rutubetli hava koşulları, bump'ları da olan pisti iki tekerlek üzerinde neredeyse durulamayacak hâle getirdi. Dünyanın en iyi motor sürücüleri bile pistte durmakta zorlandı ve sonunda bizim saatimizle 30 Ağustos sabaha karşı yapılan Junior yarışında geleceğin şampiyonu olarak görülen 13 yaşındaki Peter Lenz hayatını kaybetti. Kanadalı sürücü kazada yerde kaldı ve üzerinden geçen başka bir motorun kurbanı oldu. Babası Facebook'taki Fan Sayfası'nda babası mesaj yayınladı.

Antrenmanlar, Sıralama Turları ve videosunu seyredebileceğiniz MotoGP'de çok sayıda kaza olurken Mika Kallio (Ducati Pramac), Colin Edwards (Yamaha Tech 3), Casey Stoner (Ducati MotoGP) ve Marco Melandri (Honda Gresini) yarışdışı kalırken MotoGP2'de de daha ilk turdaki kazada 4 pilot devredışı kalırken 8 pilot finiş göremedi. Dani Pedrosa (Honda HRC) Damalı Bayrağı görürken evinde Pole-Pozisyonda başlayan Ben Spies (Yamaha Tech 3) 2. oldu. Genel Klasman lideri Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory) podyumu tamamlarken Ducati'ye geçecek Doctor Valentino Rossi 4. sırada yarışı bitirdi.

Genel Klasmanda Jorge Lorenzo 251, Dani Pedrosa 183, Andrea Dovizioso 126, Casey Stoner 119 ve Valentino Rossi 114 puanda.

Racing conditions were not ideal... Hot, dry weather turned Indianapolis Motor Speedway's bumpy, 2.621-mile course into a slick track that was challenging even for the world's best riders. Reigning world champ Valentino Rossi fell four times since practice opened Friday, including a spill Sunday morning during a 20-minute warmup session. Spies and points leader Jorge Lorenzo also acknowledged after qualifying Saturday that the track was difficult. The Moto2 race Sunday was shortened after a big wreck took out four drivers on the first lap. Eight drivers did not finish that race.

Spain's Dani Pedrosa, riding a Honda, won the Indianapolis MotoGP to claim his third victory of the season and close the gap on runaway championship leader Jorge Lorenzo to 68 points. Pedrosa started fifth on the grid but snatched the lead at the end of the seventh lap and was never headed as he took the chequered flag at the famous 'brickyard' circuit. American Ben Spies took second place on a Yamaha, his best finish in his first full season in MotoGP, after starting on pole for the first time. Pedrosa's fellow Spaniard Lorenzo crossed the line third to maintain his perfect record of finishing on the podium in all 11 races this season, although it was his worst result after he had finished no worse than second in any previous race.

With seven rounds to go, Lorenzo leads the championship standings with 251 points.
Pedrosa is second with 183 followed by Italian Andrea Dovizioso (126) who leapfrogged Casey Stoner (119) into third place after the Australian lost the front end of his Ducati.

World champion Valentino Rossi remained fifth overall, one place ahead of Spies, after finishing fourth in the race despite crashing in morning practice.
